the thing is we never lost the passion for what we are doing. Even after all these years there are still some places on the map, some parts around the world where we have never been. Even after celebrating our fiftieth anniversary it looks like now that we will go to China for the very first time in early May
When I think of Goth I think of mostly as the lyrical darkness. That is the thing that I very much like. There’s the style as well and I’m a very big fan of wearing black lipstick to go grocery shopping because you can, you know there is something about it which I’m very much drawn to
I first heard of Zakk Wylde back in the eighties when he recorded and toured with rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. Zakk then went on to form a short lived blues rock trio Pride & Glory. Since the demise of that band Zakk has forged his own musical path with Black Label Society. Bls as they have become to be known are returning to play a UK Tour next month. I managed to secure some time with Zakk while he was touring in the States last week to have a chat.
There are two European tours in 2015. We will be, as I said before, on tour with Hamerfall during January and February and then there will be a couple of festivals in the summer, a couple in Germany. There will be another European tour in Autumn 2015 but let me say another band that is almost as big as Hammerfall will be another very good tour for us but I can’t talk about that yet
I believe that Megadeth are in the market for a new guitarist. Has that chapter finally closed for you? You earlier said that you prefer to move forward rather than go back.
Marty “I don’t really have an answer for you, I know that people would want to know. Honestly I don’t have an answer. I have never said never to anything in my life, so who knows? I really don’t know.”
am really proud of what Nancy and I have been able to achieve and sustain over all these years. Anybody can make it and hang around for eighteen months or two years or something. In 2016 it will be our fortieth year…
Meeting people that enjoy the music that means so much personally to US, that’s always a very rewarding thing. Those are some of the highs. I’ve seen a lot of lows, but I’d rather not even think about those times and instead recognize the highs and how fortunate I am to experience those moments.
The album came out in March, and it has done so well. It has just been an independent effort from myself. Strange our manager and Toby Jepson who I wrote with.
I really don’t want to say anything because I’ll be touring for two years with NIGHTWISH, and maybe during that time I can start working on it or maybe I can’t. I find it really difficult to create for one band while on tour with another. It would have to be after I’m done touring and since I can’t really predict when that will be I can’t say much. NIGHTWISH is the big band time-wise, so that comes first.
