I think John and I had that type of partnership. We are both at our best and strongest when we work together, and I miss that relationship. He and I have a great personal relationship now and get together with our families. It would be a shame not to make music in some capacity in the future. I hope we can.

Metal Allegiance tears through Gramercy Theatre on Thu Apr 7, 2016 in NYC
Metal Allegiance is a musical collective celebrating the one thing that they/we all love. Thrash. The Tri Facta Team of Portonoy, Skloknick and Ellefson to create the foundation of these 9 little gems of headbanger candy is pure genius. The open creative door policy of Metal Allegiance is something that metal fans only dream about.
The band’s self-titled debut album was released in Japan on May 5 through Victor subsidiary WHD Entertainment, with a worldwide release following on July 23 through Loud & Proud Records.
As I listened to this album a total of 6 times in a row, numerous things jumped out at men. For starters, John Petrucci is on top of his game. Not that he has been anything other than amazing prior, his playing is on fire on Dream Theater. Between incredibly smoking solo’s to heavy, in-your-face riffs he covers all the bases. The other John of the band, bassist John Myung, is more upfront with his playing than in recent years.
The concept here is revealed in a 2 part CD release in which Morse tells the story his days in Spocks Beard and it’s unexpected success, all the way through dealing with personal battles in his own life with the birth of his daughter Jayda, adding more twists and turns into epics tunes and heart ridden emotional quests of self revelation and awakenings.
