‘Hindsight’ feels like a tribute to all those artists that have influenced the Emmure sound. If you mixed up the best moments of Korn, Limp Bizkit and Slipknot with a dash of System Of A Down then you arrive at Emmure’s ‘Hindsight’.
It’s not very often that an album gets two big thumbs up from me from the very first listen
I admit I had pre-conceived ideas about The Pretty Reckless which mostly centered on the ability or perhaps lack of, of the ex-actress centre-piece Taylor Momsen. I am always suspicious (or cynical maybe) about bands that have massive hype attached to them – are you listening Royal Blood – and sometimes wonder if it doesn’t do the band in question more harm than good by raising expectation to unachievable levels. Having been pleasantly surprised by their latest album I was interested to see exactly what this gig would bring.
In what I personally consider a very clever move, the first ten seconds of the opening track CORNUCOPIA are very SYSTEM OF A DOWN in style and even though the rest of the song doesn’t quite follow suit, the SOAD vibe has already been imbedded in your head…
