With a couple of covers thrown in showing where Dustin got his inspiration from many years ago, the second set really got the crowd singing back as both Carnivore and the single that announced them to the world, My Demons, were delivered by a band at the top of their game.
The ‘at one with the crowd’ continued through ‘Whispers in the Dark’, with Cooper telling the audience “You people are hurting my ears! This used to be what America sounds like. In other words, America used to rock, but you guys rock a lot harder!” To say it got an immense response would be an understatement.
Something You Love, an album highlight also ticks the boxes that make the blue collar men nob and sob into their beers as he sings about running into an old friend, swapping stories, having a few drinks etc… The company has closed he finds out, budget cuts and setbacks so it’s time to get out there and do… something you love! Springsteen would be proud!
Since that pivotal show at Firefest in 2007, FM has gone from strength to strength. With more national airplay on both BBC Radio 2 and Planet Rock than they received ‘back in the day’, it is no surprise that the band is headlining the famous Shepherds Bush Empire for the fourth time.
