Horns, Sun, Beach – the perfect 2019 summer festival

14-15 June, Fuengirola, Malaga, Spain, Marenostrum Music Castle Park

Tired of standing in a puddle? Fed up of having to wear a raincoat, covering up the battle jacket that you spent countless hours sewing patches from your favourite bands onto? Fed up of discovering that your tent is now three fields away thanks to a mid-afternoon deluge of rain on the first day of the festival?

If the answer to any of the above is yes, then you’ve clearly been to festivals in the U.K. during June. What is for most of Europe, a glorious time of year, the U.K. seems to have decided to also exit early when it comes to good weather.

The solution then is to look abroad. With flights to popular destinations in Spain like Malaga so easy to obtain at very reasonable prices, the option for those wanting to ditch the wellies and get their feet into sandals instead is an easy one. Rock the Coast, held in the picturesque seaside resort of Fuengirola, nr Malaga, takes place between 14-15 June this year and boasts the sort of line up that those who remember fondly the hey-days of Monsters of Rock at Castle Donington can only dream of.

As the line up below showcases, the festival has pulled together some of the creme de la creme of rock music with both Scorpions and Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow headlining this year. Other notable acts on a bill designed to whet your appetite include;

U.F.O. – performing as part of their final ever shows

The Darkness, riding high on the back of latest album, Pinewood Smile

Europe who will be walking the earth with us at the festival

Opeth, Tarja, Michael Monroe, Magnum, U.D.O. and more.

For those wanting something a little heavier under the summer sun, perhaps the like of Carcass, Wintersun, Mayhem, Dark Tranquility and more can tempt you out into the daylight for a few hours?
