Billy Idol, a definitive face and voice of rock & roll for 46 years, has been gearing up to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his landmark album Rebel Yell with a deluxe expanded edition. Scheduled for release on April 26 through Capitol Records/UMe, this reissue includes a variety of previously unreleased tracks and demos, along with the Poolside remix of Idol’s chart-topping “Eyes Without A Face” and the unheard original “Best Way Out of Here” by Billy Idol and Steve Stevens from the initial sessions. Also, Idol’s never-before-released cover of Rose Royce’s “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” will be available for download/streaming on March 8.

Originally unveiled in November 1983, Rebel Yell, the twice-platinum successor to Idol’s self-titled debut, boasts iconic singles like “Eyes Without a Face,” “Flesh for Fantasy,” “Rebel Yell,” and “Catch My Fall.” The reissue is accessible in 2xLP, 2xCD, and digital formats.

In a recent development, Idol presented the concert film “Billy Idol: State Line,” a Vertigo Live production capturing his April 2023 performance at the renowned Hoover Dam—marking the first-ever concert at that location. The film, released on DVD and Blu-ray after a successful limited theatrical run, showcases the history and significance of Hoover Dam. It features electrifying performances, including a full band concert at sunset with special guests and an acoustic duo set on the powerhouse roof at the foot of Hoover Dam, straddling the Nevada/Arizona state line.

Both sets feature Idol alongside longtime collaborator Steve Stevens, with special guests Alison Mosshart, Steve Jones, and Tony Kanal. Continuing to tour globally and showing no signs of slowing down, Idol released The Roadside EP in 2021 and The Cage EP in 2022 on Dark Horse Records. Idol’s journey, spanning from three albums with Generation X to a transatlantic/trans-genre solo career, integrates the bold and simple lines of punk and rock decadence.
