Right here, right NOW at Moat Park, Bobbie Dazzle is ready to inject a much-needed dose of 70s glam sparkle into your festival weekend. Catch her on the Second Stage on Saturday and read why this is just one stop on a meteoric rise that’s already seen her share stages with legends and has her lining up dates with rock royalty next week!
There’s a moment on Bobbie Dazzle’s debut album, Fandabidozi, that throws even seasoned rock listeners a glorious curveball. Midway through the driving, T. Rex-infused strut of ‘Merry-Go-Round’, just where you’d brace for a fiery guitar solo, a shimmering flute melody pirouettes into the mix. It’s pure Thijs van Leer meets Ian Anderson, a delightful prog-kissed detour within a glam rock stomper. It’s unexpected, slightly bonkers, and utterly brilliant, much like the force of nature you’ll witness on stage today.
“I do have a secret prog love,” admitted Sian Greenway, the singer, songwriter, and mastermind behind the Bobbie Dazzle persona, when we caught up with her amidst her whirlwind schedule. “Thijs van Leer from Focus was probably more the reason I picked up the flute as an adult, although I’ve loved Jethro Tull, obviously, there’s no denying the influence there. But the beauty with Bobbie Dazzle, because it’s all mine… I can do whatever I want. So if I want to stick flute interludes into my song, I can!”

That uncompromising vision, delivered with infectious enthusiasm, has rapidly propelled Bobbie Dazzle from a nascent project fuelled by passion and personal history into one of the most talked-about new acts on the UK rock scene. Her music is an unashamed celebration of 70s glam rock, the glitter, the stomp, the soaring choruses, the sheer, unadulterated fun of it all. Fresh from wowing crowds opening for ELO at BST Hyde Park just a short while ago, she’s bringing that same energy here to Kent at Maid of Stone.
“Glam rock is actually nostalgic to me, even though I was nowhere near alive at the time,” Sian explains. Like many, her musical DNA was forged in the fires of her parents’ record collections. “My mum was a big Bowie fan, she loved T. Rex, and then my dad loved New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed… You’ve got Sweet who are teetering on heavy metal, and then you’ve got the lighter plinky-plonky stuff by Elton John. I really just love it all. It all puts a smile on my face, and I wanted to be able to create that for other people. So I thought, let’s bring it back to the 21st century.”
For those of a certain vintage, anyone whose first word might have been “Noddy” (Holder, naturally), this revival hits a sweet spot. It recalls a time when rock music wasn’t solely defined by angst but could also be about communal joy and getting gloriously dressed up. Something perfectly suited for a sunny festival afternoon.
“The 70s had so much good music,” Sian reflects, “But I do feel like glam rock got lost along the way… It’s quite an innocent kind of music where it is literally just joyful. And who doesn’t need a bit of joy in their lives?” Especially today, right?
Joy is the keyword. Tracks like ‘Revolution’ from Fandabidozi perfectly encapsulate the Bobbie Dazzle sound you’ll hear blasting from the Second Stage. It’s built on the essential pillars of glam: that unmistakable, driving drum beat, yes, reminiscent of the Glitter Band’s powerful attack (let’s acknowledge the sound, if not the disgraced frontman), coupled with insistent guitar riffs and those crucial gang vocals designed for singing along.
“The glam rock stomp and the gang vocals, I think they’re the two staples of the sound,” Sian affirms. “It really lifts me up, and I can see now, since I’ve been performing my music, it gets people dancing. You don’t always see that at gigs anymore, and it’s really nice.” Let’s show her how Maid of Stone dances!
Even the album title, Fandabidozi, leans into the playful spirit, a catchphrase from 80s UK children’s TV entertainers The Krankies. “If I’ve got an artist’s name as ridiculous as Bobbie Dazzle, I can’t have a serious album name!” she chuckles. “Nothing in glam rock ever took itself too seriously; there was always some kind of silliness and cheekiness to it.”
Like Bowie morphing into Ziggy Stardust, or indeed Vincent Furnier becoming Alice Cooper, Sian Greenway steps into Bobbie Dazzle on stage. It’s not just a costume change; it’s an amplification, a persona she describes as freeing. “It’s complete expression of your full self,” she insists.

And that authentic, fully-formed persona is getting some serious exposure. As she leaves Maid of Stone Festival, the following week is huge: Bobbie Dazzle lands the support slot for two of Alice Cooper’s solo UK dates, Cardiff on Tuesday (July 22nd) and Edinburgh on Wednesday (July 23rd).
“Honestly, having that phone call was the strangest thing because my music is so new,” Sian admitted, the excitement palpable even then. The shows hold profound personal significance due to her late father being a huge Alice fan. “This feels really special… kind of like this closed-circle thing for me. I really need to not have that Wayne’s World moment where I get on my knees shouting ‘I’m not worthy!’”
Hot on the heels of those Alice dates, the whirlwind continues. Next Thursday (July 24th), Bobbie Dazzle heads to London for the aptly named ‘Girls Night Out’ show, opening for genuine rock icons Lita Ford and Vixen. “It’s playing with my heroes,” Sian beamed. “Not many people get to say this. It’s a real honour.”
But first, Maid of Stone! On the Saturday, she hits the Second Stage early on, promising to kickstart the party. And she’s sticking around. “I’m going to stay the next day as well because Sweet are playing and obviously I’m a huge fan!” she told us. So keep an eye out for a flash of glitter and platform boots enjoying the festival alongside you later today and tomorrow. “I probably will stay Bobbie Dazzled up,” she laughed. “Getting changed in a portaloo is not really something I want to be doing! I’ll be around to meet fans, do interviews, photos… just hang out.”
The momentum shows no sign of slowing after this packed July. A support tour with Thunder’s Luke Morley is booked for September, followed by Bobbie Dazzle’s own headline UK tour in October to coincide with the release of album number two (yes, already!). Her recent standalone single, featuring a storming original and a killer ABBA cover, gave a taste of what’s next.
This prolific work rate echoes the 70s bands she admires, but it’s also driven by a deeper motivation following personal loss. “It made me realise how short life is,” Sian shared candidly. “So I’m just with this project, like, I’m going balls to the wall. I’m releasing as much music as I can… Because music is important to me, and I believe that music is medicine. I want to heal the world with music.”
So, as Bobbie Dazzle prepares to unleash her glitter-bomb sound right here at Maid of Stone this weekend, it’s clear this is an artist hitting her stride with passion and purpose. She’s bringing the authentic joy, the irresistible stomp, and yes, maybe even the flute, back to rock ‘n’ roll. Don’t miss her set, it’s the perfect fuel for a fantastic festival Saturday!
