The original Alice Cooper group has reunited after 50 years to release a brand-new album, The Revenge of Alice Cooper, on July 25th via earMUSIC.

The Revenge of Alice Cooper is the highly anticipated follow-up to their 1973 Muscle of Love album. Though they have joined forces previously on tour, for live releases such as Live from the Astroturf, and alongside Alice on Paranormal, this is the first time the world will experience 14 rebellious new songs from these musicians.

The lead track and first single, “Black Mamba,” serves as a hypnotic horror soundscape to debut the next chapter of the original Alice Cooper group. In totality, the album is a perfect snapshot of the ’70s sound, thanks to the magic of Alice Cooper [vocals], Michael Bruce [guitar], Dennis Dunaway [bass, and Neal Smith [drums], along with producer Bob Ezrin. Their signature sound and macabre theatrics became the blueprint for shock rock musicians around the globe, on which bands like KISS, Rob Zombie, and Marlyn Manson have based their successful careers.

In a truly special moment, the album brings the past to life with a posthumous appearance by original guitarist Glen Buxton, who passed away in 1997, through an unreleased recording. His original guitar part is seamlessly woven into the song “What Happened to You,” bridging generations of the band’s sound.

Every song feels like a Rock ‘n’ Roll classic, such as the rocker “Wild Ones,” to the haunting melodies of “See You on the Other Side.” The Revenge of Alice Cooper offers fans a dose of vintage attitude fused with modern muscle, proving the nightmare is far from over.

In my interview with legendary bassist Dennis Dunaway, he discusses this long-awaited reunion for their new album, highlighting the process that started back in 2021, which involved both archival material and fresh studio spontaneity. After decades of false starts and stops, the stars finally aligned, and the band met in the studio and recorded 12 songs in just 10 days, much to producer Bob Erizin’s surprise. Dennis shares that “What Happened to You,” which features the late Glenn Buxton, is from a salvaged 1973 cassette, while other songs like “Black Mamba” were born in the moment at the studio. The sessions brought the band full circle, recapturing the chemistry and energy of their youth while benefiting from modern recording techniques.

Dennis also delves into the collaborative spirit behind the album, describing the process as democratic and creatively rich, with Bob Ezrin acting as both producer, motivator, and mediator. He emphasized the band’s evolution with sober professionalism compared to their wilder early years, noting that Alice is singing better than in the ’70s. My interview closes with Dennis’s hope for a tour with the original members, affirming the band’s love of the stage and the powerful, live-like feel that the new album brings.
