Tygers of Pan Tang is one of the most active Heavy Metal bands since its humble beginnings way back in 1978 and despite a few brief hiatuses, the group always resumed its activities a year or two later. The band has always adapted to its way of doing things, which is why, even though the change is not completely noticeable, we have active and fresh albums. Will this “Bloodlines” album carry them forward without looking back? Let’s see, shall we?

There isn’t much to say about this band and its history because it is a member of the golden generation of Heavy Metal. Tygers of Pan Tang continues to release albums and isn’t a band that simply copies the work of other bands of the same era. So “Bloodlines” takes that route, giving their music personality and character with a contemporary production while still wallowing in 70s rock and roll. Frontman Jack Meille’s voice gives it that modern personality, and even if we add alternative rhythms and riffs to that voice, we have a band from the 1990s or even the 2000s and up. And beware—within this setting, the band is skilled at utilizing its quirks and incorporating them into its musical style, and it is there that the talent emerges. If you are one of those people who expect a remembrance or want something from the past, then you should stay there and avoid the album, plain and simple. Because the current tuning is based on a different concept and flavors from all eras of the band, which breathes new life into this outfit.

Jack’s voice is incredibly versatile; it goes up and down everywhere, and the guitar rhythms that are adapted in each song are very accurate. The versatility of his vocals is evident in their fluctuating nature, and the guitar rhythms used in each song are precise. His voice is so versatile that it can be sung in different tones, and the guitar rhythms used in each song are perfectly balanced with a range of vocal notes.

For instance, in “Light of Hope,” you realize that there is that English touch of great classic Hard Rock bands of the past. Since everything starts with “Edge of the World” and ends with “Making All the Rules,” the variation of rhythms is immense. That is what makes this band unique on this album, because they can break their traditions and take their music to another level, and another example of that is the Hard Rocker “Back for More.”. It’s as if each song gradually explains the evolution of the style.

“Bloodlines” by Tygers of Pan Tang is evidence that the old guard of the style will always be dominant in the world of traditional Heavy Metal. While today’s youth copy and paste what was done right and wrong, the bands that founded this style and promoted this music are the ones who made it. They are the only ones who can currently keep giving this style new life. This British band’s excellent album recreates every rock and metal era, even the alternative ones, which traditional metalheads find shocking.
