Melodic rock artist and multi-instrumentalist Sam Millar is set to captivate audiences with his latest single “Deja Vu,” released today. Known for his prowess in blending epic synthwave with Queen-inspired guitar melodies, Millar offers a glimpse into his upcoming album ‘Virtual Summer,’ marking his debut with independent label Earache Records.
Directed by Shaun Hodson of Loki Films (known for his work with Massive Wagons, Those Damn Crows), the accompanying music video for “Deja Vu” underscores Millar’s mission to revive neon-shining music in 2024.
Reflecting on the track, Millar explains, “I drew influence from modern pop and synthwave while infusing strong guitar elements throughout the album. ‘Deja Vu’ is about resilience through tough times and embracing positivity.”
Hailing from Wigan, Millar pays homage to the 80s vibe that shaped his musical journey. “Virtual Summer” promises to transport listeners with its nostalgic summertime sound, blending big beats and infectious choruses reminiscent of rock legends like Van Halen and Toto.
“I’ve crafted ‘Virtual Summer’ from my lifelong passion for melodic rock,” Millar shares. “It celebrates the joy of sing-along choruses and upbeat melodies that resonate universally.”
Self-written, produced, and performed, ‘Virtual Summer’ features tracks ranging from the electrifying opener “The Killing Floor” to the synth-infused anthem “Deja Vu.” Each song on the album showcases Millar’s dedication to melodic perfection and his unique blend of AOR influences.
“‘Virtual Summer’ embraces feel-good radio pop with a nostalgic twist,” Millar notes. “It’s a tribute to classic rock’s enduring appeal, fused with contemporary production that sets it apart.”
Scheduled for release on September 27th, 2024, ‘Virtual Summer’ is available for pre-order in various formats including color vinyl, CD (featuring three bonus tracks), cassette, and digital download, along with exclusive merch bundles, at earache.com/sammillar.
