Beast Eagle are a stoner quartet out of Omaha, Nebraska. This is their second EP since their original demo was released in 2021 and it tells the tale of a witch who is more afraid of herself as her powers increase, and she fears she will lose control. She gets banished and… No spoilers.

A choppy 70’s riff introduces ‘Sharp Tongue’ before the bass and drums come in and join the riff then the soaring powerful vocals of Kate Lewis gets things going properly. It’s loud and powerful and sets the scene perfectly where the witch is in chaos with her power. ‘The Dead Follow Me’ rattles along on a fist pumping anthem before the rock n roll of ‘Send Me Down’ gets you moving. ‘Witch Hunt’ brings another side to Lewis’ voice as she vows to bring vengeance to those who have wronged her. Shit gets proper heavy on ‘The Demonstration’ where the witch gets burned alive, but it awakens something in her and she places a curse on those who doubted her which is perfectly summoned by Lewis.

It always amazes me how musicians can create a story, and I mean a full story, with four verses and a chorus within a four-minute song. They paint vivid pictures with minimal words but create the perfect atmosphere with guitar, bass and drums. Beast Eagle have done just that. Let’s have a full concept album next time because this left me wanting more!
