Volbeat are no stranger to international success, as each subsequent album they have made in the last 6 years, has been better than their last. With their unique fusion of rock sounds, lead by their pulsating front man Michael Poulsen, whose vocals at any time can give a mere imitation of Johnny Cash, Elvis and James Heftfield all warped into one, has conquered the Rock and Metal world once again delivering a successful follow up to their highly praised 5th studio album “Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies”. Ohh yeah and they added former Anthrax guitar player Rob Caggiano a couple years ago, which has only cemented their sound even more.
With “Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie” their newest offering, they debuted at number one in Denmark. It sold 8336 units in its opening week, the biggest first-week sales of 2016. In the United States, Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 51,000 units
We got a chance to catch the guys at a new venue we have not covered before in NY, at Coney Island at the Ford Amphitheater.
The main event of the evening, the Copenhagen bred Volbeat finally hit the stage and opened up the show with Motorhead’s “Born to Raise Hell” as the crowd started screaming and chanting “Volbeat!”. As soon as the curtains came down the shredding began to their own “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” off their new album.
The crowd become rowdy instantly with people starting to mosh and crowd surf with a passion. All members of Volbeat had a huge smile on their face as the crowd was going nuts behind the barricade.
Ex Anthrax member, Rob Caggiano was acknowledging the crowd and teasing the raging fanbase by standing close to them with the help of the bass speakers. They become even more rowdy and almost created a security hazard for the photographers and the video camera crew.
Michael Poulsen started singing “Lola Montez” which had the crowd sing every single word and creating a very cool environment for the Ford Amphitheater in Brooklyn. The people in the pit didn’t let this opportunity pass. They all joined in and helped everyone that fell down and continued moshing.
The rest of the night was filled with an exemplary high production show which Volbeat is known to play and fans all had huge smiles on their faces at the end of the show. Some drenched in sweat and others just chanting “Volbeat!” over and over again.
Don’t forget to catch the guys on tour on their North America leg, see all the dates below!!!
Feel the fire, he’s entering the ring,
His mindset only knows how to win,
This Danish fighter will break you in two,
You will feel all his power!
