Andy Timmons wrote a fitting instrumental tribute to Peter Frampton in 2019 after seeing him live in concert. Years later, it turned into a collaboration with Andy’s childhood guitar hero, adding a joyously breathtaking solo. The song “The Boy from Beckenham” is steeped in the blues and rock, with jazz undertones that vibrate the heart and soul with melody. Together, their unique playing gives the songs the heft and propulsion that makes it soar! Not only did Peter record the solo, but he also filmed his performance so that Andy could create the perfect video homage to the legendary singer and guitarist.
When the song was finally completed, Peter shared his thoughts, “I’m honoured Andy asked me to be part of this great new track of his. Apparently, It’s about some other guitarist who came from Beckenham, UK? Thanks Andy I had so much fun doing this.”

Andy Timmons will also release a new solo album this year, which is the follow-up to his 2022 release, Electric Truth.
I enjoyed speaking with Andy about his collaboration with Peter on “The Boy From Beckenham.” Andy discusses how Peter was a childhood guitar hero who inspired him in 2019 to write this tribute. Years later, backstage at Peter’s concerts, Andy mustered up the courage to ask his hero if he would play the solo. Peter agreed and provided a lush and tasteful solo that only he could do. No interview with Andy would be complete without discussing Danger Danger! In my interview, Andy relives some of his best memories while in the band and reflects on his fashion sensibility from the era!
