‘HANGING ON A LIE’
The New Single – out now
UK headline tour in November
“An engaging blend of slick country storytelling scuffed up with rockier riffs. Imagine a noisier version of The Civil Wars: squaring up and trading licks before coiling their voices together in sweet harmony” – Daily Telegraph
“Pure class” – Daily Star
Nashville-based country duo, Striking Matches, have announced their new single ‘Hanging On A Lie’, which is taken from their hugely-acclaimed debut album ‘Nothing But The Silence’ which topped the UK iTunes Country chart in March earlier this year, and rose back up to the top spot again earlier this month.
‘Hanging On A Lie’ is a mandolin-driven, four-to-the-floor country-pop stomper. The video perfectly captures their on stage one-up rivalry with Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis dueling in a heated battle of flawless harmonies and impeccable guitar playing. Unleashing soulful and soaring solos mixed with bouncing breakdowns, they even throw in a Lindsey Buckingham-esque guitar solo to bring the track to a close.
Striking Matches are winning over UK audiences with every performance and earlier this summer performed an incredible acoustic version of their last single, the Radio 2 playlisted ‘Trouble Is As Trouble Does’, on John Bishop’s new BBC1 prime time show. It was so well received that it sent their album straight back to the top of the UK iTunes Country chart.
After a phenomenal sold-out headline tour in May and further shows in July, Striking Matches are returning to the UK this November for their third UK headline tour of 2015 including a show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
