The Reddcoats, featuring Matt Bissonette, Gregg Bisonette, Andy Timmons, Mike Medina, Wally Minko, and Ron Pedley, have returned with a new studio album titled The Reddcoats 2!
After circling each other as friends for countless years, these five musicians assembled in 2020 to release their self-titled album. In 2024, they are back with another album combining instrumental and vocal songs.
Together, they boast one of the most powerful collective pedigrees in Rock & Roll. The band members have individually logged thousands of shows alongside history’s biggest icons, millions of records sold, and dozens of awards between them. The Reddcoats are forging a singular sound that includes funk, jazz, bebop, rock, and Latin pulling out all the stops and surprises on every track.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Gregg Bisonette for a high-energy and fun discussion about the origins of The Reddcoats, with his brother Matt being the brainchild. Gregg enthusiastically talked about the band’s unique and collaborative spirit as they don’t labor the songwriting process – they just go for it. He discussed his love for all types of music which helped shape The Reddcoats unique sound and prepared him to work with countless bands. He also reminisced about playing drums with David Lee Roth on the monumental Eat ‘Em and Smile tour in the 1980s. Gregg regaled me with road stories from that wild time, describing the thrill of playing arenas every night with a legendary frontman at the peak of his powers.
