A concept album about sharks. Sounds proper metal to me. The concept is developed further as the band want to invoke feelings of fear being a victim a of society where sharks infiltrate the world and attack mercilessly. Sounds like real life to me.

‘Shallow Water’ sets the stall out immediately crushing you on some classic death metal. My advice – don’t go in the water! ‘Dead Weight’ thrashes to death with some tech guitar lines for shits n giggles before ‘Kill And Consume’ gets closer to metalcore with a pit inducing thrasher. ‘Same Face, Different Mask’ chugs along on a nasty groove that twists and turns through some serious guitar work before ‘Depth Charge’ brings forth bassman Tyler Abrams for a bit of noodle then they rip in to some brutality with drummer Justin Whitehead slamming everything within reach. ‘Apex Predator’ starts with a huge stomp then grooves along on another tech death ride. ‘Megalodon’ is a heavy as hell banger and a perfect way to end this beast.

I’ve only recently started to appreciate the more extreme metal like this, and I like this. It’s got great energy and the sounds are visceral – so well done to all concerned because this is a fine release and will be a an excellent addition to anyone’s death metal collection sitting neatly besides the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Immolation and Dying Fetus.
