Ireland-based Rotlaust has just released the very-NSFW official music video for ‘Nascent’, the first single from their forthcoming album ‘The Dirge’. Best described as blackened death metal, Nascent is not for the faint-hearted and includes a guitar solo by Benjamin Ellis of Scar Symmetry.

Musician/Producer Jack Penders approached videographer Olga Kuzmenko, of Record Replay Productions, to produce the video for the blackened death metal track. Leaving the creative vision almost entirely up to Olga, his only direction was “Make it dark”. Kuzmenko, based in Dublin, is also known for her art-nude photography, and jumped at the opportunity to combine her passions for heavy music, horror and artistic nudity.

Rotlaust is the multi-genred musical project of Ireland based musician and producer Jack Penders. Rotlaust, meaning “Rootless” in Norwegian, was created as an exercise in creativity, and conceived as a platform for all of Jack’s releases, encompassing multiple genres and styles of music. Jack is also the drummer for the progressive alternative rock band LNT, and vocalist for the now inactive blackened death metal band Dead Aeon.

Talking about the album, Penders said “The Dirge as a concept is an exploration of various stages of depression and anxiety, with each track representing a different stage. In contrast to my previous album, I decided to return to my blackened death metal roots and create the album I’ve wanted to make for nearly 20 years, as I felt like the subject matter demanded equally distressing and oppressive music. This resulted in roughly an hour of unrelenting, dark, heavy, groovy music where my death metal influences shine through. It’s an album I’m extremely proud of and I genuinely cannot wait to hear the reactions of anyone who’s willing to listen.”
