Highly anticipated and highly expected comes the new offering from the boys from The Puget Sound. Ayron Jones broke ground on his debut “Child of the State” in 2021. That was one of those that blew me away and landed consistently in my regular spins throughout the year. Ayron and company are superb as one of the up-and-comers in the Rock scene.

With a nitty-gritty and thunderous groove and edgy Hard Rock Blues sound, Jones has been tearing up the live world and consistently touring since his debut. We were fortunate enough to catch him live opening for Black Stone Cherry and they were fantastic live.

There has been a lot of noise around his sophomore debut, can he delivered and sore above the expectations from the debut? Let’s find out…

The first thing you notice is the grit and resilience in his sound. Jones has the groove man, his crunchy licks ensure a commanding rhythm that makes his sound heavy but bluesy, a perfect marriage of soul and heavy. The first track comes via “Strawman”, an edgy pointed riff that takes the listener on more of the expected ways from the debut, a really good opener. Next, we have some bangers with “Blood in The Water” not just musically but lyrically Jones dwelves into personal history as his parents abandoned him when he born, the killer vibe in this one truly displays Ayron’s splendid guitar work, this track is a top cut on Chronicles as it stands as visceral as it comes. Another hit single comes via “The Title”, another heavy bottom and vigorous addicting groove takes over and delivers splendidly. The nasty sounds of “Filthy” and “Get High” are trademark stamped sealed and delivered as you would expect from Jones. The vibrant words add more color and realism to the heavy sound. There’s enough substance on the sophomore release that naturally feels like a continuation of the debut, very well done.

Is always hard to surpass the sophomore blues, there just never seems enough time to beat the pressures of hitting the ticker over expectations, most artists just spend more time on their debut, carefully crafting it to perfection. But some just recognize a winning formula and keep cultivating what worked, here Ayron Jones keeps sizzling forward with impunity as his new offering kicks all kinds of ass. The grooves are all there, the crunch, the heavy, the soul and the raw lyrics all point the record in a most impactful direction. Welcome to the big leagues Ayron, now go catch these guys live you won’t be disappointed.
