2023 sees singer Alexander Strandell (Crowne), returning guitarist and band founder Christoffer Borg, bassist Richard Svärd and drummer Alexander Lundgren in musical top form bursting with power and energy, and with “Inception” the band’s first new album in four years.

ART NATION, the name of the Swedish quartet, combines anthemic melodic hard rock with European metal influences. It is teeming with gripping melodies, fine riffs, catchy keyboard hooks, and anthemic choruses.

The wildly atmospheric opener ‘Brutal & Beautiful’ with its hammer chorus is just as convincing as the hymn ‘1001’ and the great catchy tune ‘Fight Fire With Fire’. `Break Up’ provides the somewhat quieter tones, before `Light The Fire’ shines with a lot of speed and a filigree guitar solo.

Also `The Legend Reborn’ is the best, modern AOR fodder, and with the intensely thoughtful, only with strings underlaid beginning `Superman’ and the concluding `Powerless’ stands another quite strong song tandem at the very end of the tracklist.

Not all songs of the spinner keep this level and the Melodic Rock Wheel is of course not exactly reinvented here, but you get an energetic, fresh album with contemporary, mostly rousing songs and a fantastic singer.
