Hairball – A Grand Celebration of Arena Rock!!! During my recent conversation with Mr. Dave Moody, one of the three distinguished vocalists of Hairball, a week prior to their scheduled performance at Mars Music Hall, he fervently emphasized the overarching experiential quality, the meticulous production, and the precision with which the ensemble encapsulates the essence of our beloved Arena rock heroes, offering an unparalleled representation of a bygone, majestic era. Meticulously investing time and resources, they masterfully curate a live experience that is truly remarkable. Needless to say, my anticipation for this upcoming show was palpable.

My excitement stems not merely from the songs themselves but rather from the extraordinary production dedicated to resurrecting this iconic era. While the familiarity with the songs is widespread, what truly captivates is witnessing the younger generation attending the show with their elder family members, gaining a firsthand insight into the exuberance of those times and understanding the historical significance of these bands in the annals of Rock history.

The performance commences with Mr. Dave Moody donning his Kiss ensemble, navigating the challenging heels with precision and delight. His gestures and nuances mirror those of “The Demon” himself, a sentiment echoed by Krix Box’s portrayal of Paul Stanley. The entrance is theatrical, marked by lights, smoke, and an attitude that ignites the stage, ensuring an explosive beginning that sustains throughout.

The Motley Crue persona emerges impeccably, from the meticulously crafted costume to the electrifying riffs, embodying the essence of that tumultuous era. The perennial crowd-pleaser, “Kickstart My Heart,” is delivered with infectious energy. Later in the show, Steve Perry skillfully channels a Journey flashback, captivating the audience with the perennial favorite, “Separate Ways,” evoking a nostalgic response. Interaction with a front-row fan adds a touch of authenticity reminiscent of yesteryears.

The homage to Arena rock legends continues with a compelling portrayal of Alice Cooper and a skillfully executed Prince impersonation, culminating in a rendition of the timeless classic, “Purple Rain,” enchanting the discerning Huntsville audience. Special mention must be made of the Twisted Sister ensemble, showcasing an iconic hairstyle costume that pays tribute to Dee Snider. A nod to EVH follows, seamlessly transitioning back to Dave Moody as he concludes the evening with a spirited rendition of Brian Johnson’s AC/DC classics, ensuring an electrifying close.

This spectacle not only presents a photographer’s dream but also guarantees a delightful experience for every attendee on a Friday night. Each member of the audience, without exception, leaves the venue with an enduring smile. The musical renditions are executed with finesse; Happy’s guitar prowess, coupled with theatrical flair, impeccably resurrects these classics. The end result is a meticulously packaged and remarkably affordable concert experience. Should Hairball grace your city, there is no hesitation in recommending attendance, offering a unique opportunity to relive the glory days of Arena Rock in the flesh, even in the year 2024.
