Pophouse, the Swedish company behind ABBA’s Voyage show and owner of music rights for Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, and Cyndi Lauper, is acquiring KISS’ publishing, recording royalties, and trademarks, including the band’s logo and makeup designs. This deal, announced on April 4, will lead to a Pophouse-produced KISS virtual show, expected to debut in 2027.
Pophouse CEO Per Sundin disclosed plans to collaborate with KISS frontmen Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley on the production, aiming to honor and expand the band’s legacy. The interest in a digital show arose after KISS’ manager was impressed by ABBA’s Voyage.
The virtual event aligns with KISS’ history of theatrical performances, with Simmons emphasizing the importance of spectacle. Pophouse’s active involvement in immersive entertainment, demonstrated through ventures like the ABBA Museum and Avicii Experience, underscores their approach beyond traditional rights acquisition.
While specific terms of the deal were not disclosed, it likely encompasses more than publishing rights, including recording royalties and trademarks. Pophouse’s relationship with Universal Music Group, coupled with Simmons and Stanley’s trademarks, adds depth to the agreement, encapsulating KISS’ iconic imagery and music legacy.
