Germans Wizard are one of those heavy/power metal bands that don’t know the meaning of idiom ‘to give up’. And they are really very consistent too, just look at their discography – they have been releasing one album exactly every 2 years, and all that since 1995, so they could be considered veterans of the scene already. Sadly, they have never made it to any close to the top, but maybe they are not even striving to become the king of the kings.

Yeah, my (more or less) obvious reference to Manowar explains how the opening title song sounds alike – the drumming is really furious, but the epic-ness is kinda half-assed. Can’t say Wizard are wimps or posers though – the band knows how to be loud, pump it up and make you headbang. Sadly, they lack some more imagination in songwriting area – the songs are not impressive at all, unless you are listening to these at some summer festival while being drunk like celebrating Viking. In such state, it doesn’t really matter how the music sounds though, as long as it’s loud enough.

So, it doesn’t look like …Of Wariwulfs and Bluotvarwes (cool title BTW) will mean any breakthrough for the band either, but there is probably nothing bad about being consistently average for such a long time. After all, there are more and more summer metal festivals taking place every year, and all of them need some bands that are willing to open the day when the sun is still high, it’s fucking hot in the shade and most people are still sleeping or trying to cure their hangover from previous wild night. Listenable but forgettable album.
