Here we go – rock n roll! Another slice of action from the now four piece Thundermother. The band consider this step up from 2020’s ‘Heat Wave’. Kicking off with the arena sized ‘Light In The Sky’ which is bound to get a crowd going. The title track gets you going on a pure AC/DC rocker which has guitarist Filippa Nassil going through a voice box then ‘Raise Your Hands’ stomps along with some ‘woooaah’s’ before ‘Hot Mess’ brings it down on an Aerosmith style power ballad.

Guernica Mancini shows a real soulful side to her voice. ‘Wasted’ brings the rock n rolls again – it’s a riff that’s been used a thousand times before but who cares because it rocks like a bastard. ‘Watch Out’ rattles along on a Motorhead vibe which makes it serious so heed the warning! More AC/DC-isms on ‘I Don’t Know You’ which as another huge rocker about life in a rock band before you get told about yourself again on ‘Looks No Hooks’. ‘Loud And Free’ is a full on rocker that gets your headbanging and your fist pumping. ‘Try With Love’ is absolute class – nasty riff and some great lyrics before ‘Stratosphere’ rolls along into another road tale ballad on ‘Borrowed Time’ – very Scorpions.

Thundermother are not doing anything new however they do what they do really well.  Mancini has a wonderful voice, Nassil knows her way around a fret board and the rhythm section of Mona Lindgren and Emlee Johansson are locked in tight providing some solid bass. This is – mostly – fun time beer guzzling rock n roll although the band do provide some fine ballads for respite. Summers here so crank this up and annoy the neighbours with a few beers. You won’t be disappointed.
