Formed in Finland in 2015 TakaLaiton takes its thrash influences seriously and adds a huge dose of crossover/hardcore into its impressive sound. This is their second full-length album releasing two EP’s and a few singles previously.
Some spoken word from the film starts ‘Rip n Burn’ before the band tear into a brutal thrasher that’s bound to induce a circle pit which continues on the crushing ‘Do Or Die’ and ‘Get What You Asked For’. Things take a left turn on ‘Hopeareunus’ where we go into power metal territory with a Finnish vocal. ‘Ambassador Of Revenge’ brings some huge Pantera-like groove metal before the grinding ‘Mies Miest, Vastaan’ which is again in Finnish. ‘Reborn’ welcomes back the thrash with open arms and it continues on the blinding ‘Arkajalka’ which races along at a fair old clip. ‘Destination Termination’ comes down on another crushing mid-tempo riff before the epic title track takes you on a thrashtastic journey. Opening with symphonic strings and power chords it teases you before the riff and groove come charging at you like an angry bull. It’s equal parts classic thrash and new hardcore-influenced groove and some more power metal within its seven minutes.
Can’t fault this. Not just thrash metal, the band goes into other areas well, so it keeps things interesting plus they also give us songs in their native language. Cool production too from Teemu Aalto. I will be interested to see what they do next because this is a fine release and shows real promise.
