Beyond The Mirage is the 2nd album of the Italian melodic power metal band WONDERS, and actually this is a spin-off side-project of several EVEN FLOW members, an Italian progressive metal band that exists since the late 90s. On this new WONDERS album the line up consists of MARCO PASTORINO (vocals), PIETRO PAOLO LUNESU (guitars), BOB KATSIONIS (keys), LUCA NEGRO (bass) and GIORGIO LUNESU (drums), and together they create a classic Italo Power Metal album that has a lot of lovely melodies and memories of bands like LABYRINTH, SECRET SPHERE and WONDERLAND.

There is a nice mixture of faster uptempo pieces and more melodic (almost) hard rock orientated songs. This makes it a joy to listen to the album, and due to the strong high pitched dramatic vocals of Marco it all sounds very melodic and catchy.

I think this might well be one of the strongest Italo (Power) Melodic Metal releases of the past few years, and as highlights on their new album I would like to mention songs like One Million Miles (faster picture-perfect catchy memorable chorus driven Italo Neo-Classical Melodic Power Metal like early LABYRINTH), Breaking The Chains (more uptempo melodic hardrock orientated, like FAIR WARNING, PRETTY MAIDS and DOKKEN), Here I Go Again (cool guitar riffs, amazing guitar solo and a strong melodic chorus, kinda combines the fast Italo Power Metal with the more smooth Melodic Hardrock), Coming Home (cool keys at the start), Into The Light (hello SECRET SPHERE!) and the surprising All My Home (a beautiful calmer AORish ballad).

Concluded, this is a must-have for fans of especially LABYRINTH, SECRET SPHERE and WONDERLAND!
